Brisbane City Hall

The Brisbane City Hall is a key landmark of Brisbane, Queensland, in Australia. The Brisbane City Hall, which was officially founded in April 8, 1930, was previously considered one of the top structures in the country. The Brisbane City Council holds the Brisbane City Hall in such high esteem that the building forms part of the official logo of the Brisbane City Council. Sir John Goodwin (the Queensland Governor at the time of the formal opening of Brisbane City Hall) would be proud to see how this Brisbane landmark has managed to withstand the stressors of time. For some time, the Brisbane City Hall was even believed to be the tallest structure in the city. It occupies around 0.9 hectares (or two acres) of property.

Council Symbols

The coat of arms of the Brisbane City Council are composed of two gryphons flanking either side of the city shield. The council symbols made up of mythological gryphons are meant to represent the spirit of the city of Brisbane itself. Another of the council symbols would be the city shield itself which was designed to honor astronomer Sir Thomas Brisbane. The various symbols on the shield plus the motto of Meliora Sequimur (that translates to 'We aim for the best') make up the next tier of council symbols. The Brisbane City Council coat of arms also uses the city colors of gold and blue in the topmost wreath. A faunal emblem of Brisbane would be the Brisbane tree frog known for its songs when rain comes.
